Setting up an online shop

Intellectual Output: Course Materials

The materials will cover the following topics:

  • developing a competitive business idea
  • technical requirements needed to set up an online shop
  • administrating an online-shop as to:
    • administrating products and product categories
    • basic design, using templates and pre-made modules
    • adding product pictures
    • creating meaningful shop content (especially regarding product descriptions, basics of search engine optimisation)
    • adding correct legal terms and conditions, contact information
    • setting up tax information, shipping rates
  • processing orders and customer communication
  • evaluating shop performance, calculating key figures

Short-term joint staff training events

In a hands-on seminar students (guided by teachers from the three participating schools) will be trained in the following competencies:

  • Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
    • analysing keywords and optimising text content of an online-shop
    • facilitating a Google adwords campaign for an existing online-shop
    • interpreting Google analytics
  • monitoring and evaluating website traffic and key figures (e.g. conversion rate)
  • product photography
    • shooting product photography
    • editing and optimising product photography for e-commerce

Before the actual mobility students will form groups online and create a marketing concept they will share and discuss online.

Teachers will be trained how to use the course materials in practice.

  • styling an internet site with inline-style tags and inline CSS code
